Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Perry Solomon, president of Solomon Growth Advisors, located in Santa Monica, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Providing board advisory services and business strategy and exit planning advice. Clients include Amazon aggregators, Amazon-based businesses, and those that wish to begin their Amazon journey or substantially grow their Amazon presence, in addition to those preparing for an Amazon exit. Profiled and quoted in Ziglar on Selling: The Ultimate Handbook for the Complete Sales Professional by Zig Ziglar. Featured in the CBS News segment Fast Times hosted by Dan Rather.

Tell us about yourself

Successful serial entrepreneur and advisory board member with e-commerce, consumer products, health & beauty, and computer electronics sales & marketing, engineering, and product development experience

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Having recently participated in four exits, including consumer brands primarily sold on Amazon, such as Aleratec, Prosumer's Choice, and TunePhonik

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being an entrepreneur can be very lonely as almost everyone has a vested interest in your business, and it's challenging to secure unbiased opinions and/or guidance.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do the required preparation work but don't get bogged down by overanalyzing.

  2. Offer products or services that are highly differentiated; every offering should include USPs (Unique Selling Proposition) and Plus-1 (value-added features).

  3. A quality product or service at a fair price is already half sold.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Don't expect a home run on your first time out. Failure is something virtually every honest entrepreneur has faced; the key is what you can learn from it and how fast you recover.

Where can people find you and your business?
